Like its competitor fighting game "Tekken 7," "Soul Calibur VI" was also developed using the Unreal Engine, which means it shares the same graphical capability as that game, particularly with the dynamic camera angles. One notable gameplay change is the mechanic called "Reversal Edge," which, according to Bandai Namco, will allow players to "defend against the opponent's attack and directly counter with a powerful strike highlighted through a dynamic camera." This new change will work more like a parry and riposte maneuver where even the most powerful moves can get reversed. Tested Tekken 6, Soul Calibur 4/5, Tekken Tag Tournament HD and Tekken Tag. All my SC loving friends were saying they thought a MK9-reboot was what the game needed storyline wise. Meterless Guard Impact is back, and hopefully Just Impact is gone, hopefully the old cast is back too- well most of them, I can live without Lizardman. So far I'm mostly happy with what I'm seeing- the gameplay seems to have some good ideas. This has customization, NPCs, sounds, team skins, and bot support.
I also ported Elysiums mask from Soul Calibur 5 and made it a customization option. (The other one is BBXT- I want to troll anime fans with Yang or Blake) This is a port of a NSFW edit of Sophitia from Soul Calibur 4, first meant for SFM, complete with her omega sword and elk shield. These characters are Maxi, Voldo, Siegfried, Sophitia, and Xianghua. 5 of the 19 characters available will given an extra 3rd costume to unlock using the Mission Mode. As a fighting game junkie, this is one of the two games I'm looking forward to for next year. Soulcalibur is the only Soulcalibur game to be without the extra weapons feature a feature that existed in Soul Blade/Edge, Soulcalibur II, and Soulcalibur III.
